The ultraviolet spectrograph (Europa-UVS) for NASA’s Europa Clipper mission will collect ultraviolet light and create images to help determine the composition of Europa’s atmospheric gases and surface materials. As the spacecraft conducts detailed reconnaissance of Jupiter’s moon Europa and investigates whether it could have conditions suitable for life, Europa-UVS will also search for evidence of potential plumes erupting from within the icy moon.
