The Europa Clipper Magnetometer Boom Deployed

Europa Clipper’s 28-foot (8.5-meter) magnetometer boom is deployed at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California. The boom is shown here covered in protective silver-colored material. It will support the spacecraft's magnetometer sensors – key for confirming that an ocean lies beneath the surface of Jupiter's icy moon Europa.

Twelve engineers and technicians dressed in white protective “bunny suits” stand behind and beside to Europa Clipper’s narrow-angle camera (NAC).
